HR Line of Business and SAP SuccessFactors Solutions

This blog provides an overview of the main SuccessFactors Solutions, to help those who want to know which one to choose to support a particular HR process. 

Broadly, you can classify HR function into 2 major classifications, Core and Strategic, supporting short and long-term objectives of a business. 

SAP provides a number of SaaS solutions to handle different aspects of HR line of business. Use

1) Employee Central, to keep up with changes to your business and workforce. 


It lets you store HR records for all employees and keep transaction records & correction history. 

2) Recruiting, to source, engage, and hire the right talent.


It comprises of two solutions; Recruiting Marketing for candidates and Recruiting Management for recruiters. 

3) Onboarding, to set up new hires for success from the start. 


The tool is to ensure retention, engagement and productivity from day one when an employee joins an organization. 

4) Performance, to evaluate and recognize top talent and align your strategies and goals.


The solution allows users and managers to set goals and track performance. 

5) Compensation, to build and manage strategic employee compensation programs.



6) Learning, to support employee training and reduce compliance risk



The LMS allows users to assign and complete learning items, such as courses or other learning activities. 

7) Succession and Development, to engage employees with meaningful career development opportunities, close talent gaps, and nurture leaders. 


The solution allows you to cultivate your next generation of talent and engage and retain current employees to support your strategy and success.

1) HRSF1 - introduces each of the main modules in a good detail, and
2) THR80 - provides a technical overview of various aspects of the solution.

  If you want to set up a Training Approval Process in SAP SuccessFactors Learning, you can do so in following 4 simple steps: 1) Create an Approval Role, and 2) Assign the Role to User(s) 3) Create Approval Process, and 4) Apply it to Items/Classes. Create Approval Role Navigate to  References > System Administration > Approval Roles, Click Add New, Enter the Approval Role ID and Description, and Click Add. How to add Custom Help Text on Job Requisition fields

  To help Recruiting Users, you can add help text on different fields of a Job Requisition.  The steps are very simple.  1. Go to Manage Recruiting Custom Help Text. You can use Action Search to reach to the page. You should have the necessary permissions.  2. Select the field, add text, and choose Save. 3. To test the help text, go to Recruiting and select any existing Job Requisition, or create a new one as shown in the first image. You should be able to see the text. Interesting feature, isn't it? Creating Live Slides using Presentations Feature

  Have you explored the Presentations Feature within SAP SuccessFactors ? It allows HR users creating LIVE slides out of Talent Data, without having a need to create & run a report and then to download & format data to use in a presentation.  Here are the steps: 1) Access the feature from the main navigation menu i.e. Home > Presentations .  2) Click on + icon on top right side of the Presentations screen.  3) Give your presentation a name and choose OK . 4) You may Hide Instructions by clicking on the link. 5) Click on the Presentation Menu on top right side of the screen, and choose an action, such as Add a Live Slide . 6) Select an option to create a live slide of your choice.  7) Enter a user name and select/deselect Include Matrix Reports , as requried.
